These boots are nicely crafted, and have burnished to a lovely, multihued shade in the year I've owned them. They fit perfectly, give great support, and are super for hiking (despite the unlugged sole). For folks looking for a "style boot" in the vein of the Red Wing Gentleman Traveler or Wolverine 1000 Mile series, these will fit the bill handily, at a far more reasonable price. They look great with denim, casual trousers, etc. They're relatively inexpensive, and made well in the USA, and you really can't beat the color.Two small caveats, for the sartorialists:1. The Chippewa logo is embossed into the outward-facing side of each boot's upper. That may be a deal-breaker for some (smacks a bit of "construction site chic"), but it's covered by end of one's pants most of the time, and I've actually grown to like it.2. What may look like an upper layer of natural-colored leather at the top of the sole (as on some boutique Aldens, Trickers, Grensons and so on) is just a stripe of orangish paint on the rubber sole. It looks fine, but I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps I'm just a bit dim.Would I prefer a pair of RWs or 1000 Miles? Maybe, if I felt like spending the money. However, I enjoy that not everyone knows of these boots. I don't see many around. Good stuff, highly recommended..

Well i got these boots less than a year ago and they did fit just right.I have had Chippewa's before but only the heavier work boot.These needed no break in.I like walking through the woods in these,or i did until one of them developed a rather loud squeak.I can feel something in the sole kinda slipping as they bend,like the arch moving.That noise is enough to hang this pair up.Maybe i can fix them but useless right now. Really want to use only made in U.S.A..
I may have the only pair that has done this tho.

Review by T. Young "Know it all" : Best Boots I've Ever Owned!

I have owned two pairs of Chippewa boots and I am pleased every time. These are so sturdy it feels like they will take a lifetime just to wear in. Forget about wearing these things out, it's impossible. My other pair of Chippewa boots took New York winters and daily abuse. They looked new even after 5 years. I gave them to a friend who does construction as they were steel toe and I wanted something lighter. And I'm just as happy with these. But be careful, the break in time is fairly long. My heels are angry with me right now. I was too excited to wear these and wore them outside in the cold for over an hour, while walking around. Not a good idea. But they were so warm. My feet were sweating and it was about 20 degrees outside. Just take it easy until the leather molds to your feet.
